OOM: Barlow estate: 1881, Sunday
Jan. 17th, 2009 01:13 am[following this thread:]
It had been relatively quiet on the estate for the rest of the week. Joseph was invited to stay until Sunday, and with some mild reservations, he finally agreed to do so.
'Jay' settled into his established place on the farm, working odd jobs for the Boss and managing, relatively well, to get along with the rest of the staff. He was still the new kid, but he'd made an impression on John, and that went a long way in garnering a respectable reputation for himself.
(Everyone had heard about the way he handled those Crocker boys.)
Besides, the boss seemed to like him.
Sunday morning rolled around, and despite the rush and activity around the farm as the peak of the harvest season grew closer, Samuel Barlow made it abundantly clear that whomever wished to join his household for Sunday services were not only welcome, but encouraged to do so.
It took a wagon to get them all to the little church in Heyser.
