OOM sorta: Katherine's room
[Following this thread:]
Katherine unlocks the door to her room, making way for Boo as they settle in for the night.
The room is pretty standard: bed against one wall, framed by two end-tables; a dresser across the room; a vanity and mirror next to the dresser; a desk and chair near the door; a small, but nearly filled, standing bookshelf, and two plush-looking chairs nearby.
She has only been bound here for a few days, so she hasn't had much time to make the room homey.
(However, there is a wonderful, sweet scent to the air, and a plate of cookies on the desk, as promised.)
"All right, make yourself comfortable, sweetheart," she tells the young one, setting her things on the foot of the bed.

Half a heartbeat later she's got one in her mouth.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

"What would you like to do first?" she beams.

She runs back over to her backpack and starts rummaging through it. A few moments later she's got half a dozen board books and she's dragging them over to Katherine.
"OOOOOOOOK!" Excitement!

"Which one first?" she enthuses.

"Are you going to help me read?" she murmurs into her hair, opening to the first page.
Blue Horse, Blue Horse, What do you see? I see a green frog looking at me...

(She just has to remember to read fast.)
...White Dog, White Dog, What do you see? I see a black sheep looking at me...
Since turning the page is being taken care of, she begins to smooth her hand through Boo's hair as she reads. It's a repetitive, slow, gentle motion, just as much a comfort to the teacher as it might be for the girl.
"Black Sheep, Black Sheep, What do you see? I see a gold fish looking at me!"

NO THAT WAS NOT A YAWN.

"Gold Fish, Gold Fish, What do you see? I see a teacher looking at me..."
Boo isn't yet changed or brushed or anything, and Katherine is pretty sure there are lingering cookie bits around her face, but if the girl feels like nodding off she isn't going to stop her.
Her fingers are still working gently at her hair.

Boo rearranges herself so she's all snuggled up with her head resting against Katherine's chest and her eyes close.

She smiles warmly as Boo snuggles down, eyes closing and body relaxing. It's rare she is afforded the opportunity to be with a child Boo's age, still young enough to cuddle and care for. She loves all of her students, but moments like these warm her heart in a way she can't rightly describe.
She finishes reading the book, voice quiet, and sets it on the bookshelf next to the chair.

(SHE DOES NOT SNORE! It's obviously mice in her pockets)

She sits still for a long moment, watching Boo sleep. She misses her students. She misses her schoolhouse. She misses her town. She misses her... friends. It has been growing increasingly more difficult as the days draw on and her door still doesn't show up. She's anxious to get back to her life in Green Lake and the people she left behind.
But this? This helps. The little girl is small and snug in her arms, hair fine and soft under her fingertips, and it makes Katherine feel important knowing she was needed tonight.
She carefully stands up, cradling the two-year-old in her arms, and lays her down on her bed. She gently removes Boo's shoes and then pulls the covers up over her, though still fully clothed. In the morning they will worry about brushing her teeth and cleaning her up.
For tonight, all that matters is the gentle snoring from the girl as Katherine quietly watches over her, smile lingering on her face long after she herself drops off.
