As much as she can get him worked up sometimes, she can just as easily soothe him. Just the sound of her honeyed voice and the soft touch of her lips and fingertips can make him forget everything else.

Her remark, though, gives him pause. But then he huffs out a short chuckle, wryly amused.

"I wasn't shutting you out, I was-- just-- blocked."
