It takes a while before he can pull her out of her nightmare, but when he finally sees the moist gleam of her eyes in the dimness, wild and staring, he lets go of her wrist and presses his palm to her cheek to calm her.

"Kate, it's okay, you were just having a really bad dream."

This has left them both rattled.

But then her tears come.

And he cracks a little. And he draws her into his arms again, her tears falling on his skin.

"Aw, honey, it's alright. You're safe. You're safe."

He's never seen her this bad before.
